Sebastian Fitzek replies to Zeta

In order to stay optimistic and happy we need  a motivation sometimes. For start you can watch speeches of people who can aqually say something to you about their optimistic way of life.

That's why i have decided to ask directly people that we all admire and they are successful, in Greece or abroad. So we can find out what helps them when things are not going well. It might be helpful to all us too!

My first quest is a very famous German writer and journalist. He is the most successful psychothriller author in Germany. His first novel Therapy at 2006 is a best seller and since then all his books have translated in 24 countries and have been transferred to theatre and cinema. He lives in Berlin with his family and i'm honoured because he answered to a few questions i sent gim so that he give us an inspiration!
Don't forget to read also The Package, The Child, Splinter, The Eye Collector, The NightWalker and all of his best seller novels!

Thank you so much for your time and your answers!

If you were not so famous, how would you introduce yourself? Who are you?

The single most asked comment that I receive when I meet people for the first time is: You don’t look like a psychothriller-author.

Well, that might be true but this is what I do for a living. ;)

What’s your motivation in life?

To make as many journeys as possible. And I don’t mean only  vacations to other countries and citys. To me every new person that I meet, every thing in life that I do for the very first time and every new book that I read is a new journey.

Success has no secrets. Hard work, consternation, persistence.  What is your version of success? What did you do to achieve your goals?

My definition for success is when I am happy with myself. And this is even harder to achieve than to be on the bestseller-list. Money truly means nothing when you are not pleased with yourself. That sounds cheesy but it is true. My goal in writing is always to write a  book that I can be proud of. Only than it has a change that other readers might like it.

Has been there a time when your «bad» self tried to prevent an important step and how did you deal with it?

I would call it my coward-self. Before every new challenge I am afraid of making new steps. But I always ask myself: Okay, what could happen in the worst case? And then I have a checklist:

-        Do you die or get ill?

-        Will you lose your freedom?

-        Will you hurt somebody else.

If the answer is 3 times “No” – then I go for it.

What is your personal motto of life?

Take what you do very serious, but not yourself.

Tell us something optimistic that helps you face the difficulties of your life, that might be helpful to someone else too.

When something bad is happening in the world take a look at all the people that are helping. There always in the majority compared to those who did something evil.
